Should we praise a dog and God using the same word? Should we make a distinction in complementing things and our majestic, one-of-a-kind, holy God?
New shoes, shirt or a car may be ‘nice,’ or ‘attractive,’ but not ‘awesome.’ God is awesome! God’s mercy and grace are awesome!! My ball team may be exciting or terrific but does that compare with God’s wonders? Should we reserve some words, some superlatives, for that eternal being, the Lord God our Maker?
As the powerful, praise song lyrics proclaim, “Our God is an awesome God’! Let’s show Him by keeping our mouths holy unto Him, letting our behavior honor Him . . letting our choice of words be special, reserved for HIM!!
