Are Physicists/String Theory Proponents Wedded To Faith?

Some physicists believe in string theory. It is unconfirmed by experiment. They must believe without evidence.

“One of the biggest criticisms of string theory is that it has never been confirmed by experiment, despite its long history. The difficulty lies with the size of the strings, which can be as small as 10-33 cm in length. This is a hundred million billion times smaller than the protons that are smashed together at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) in Geneva.”

“Physicist Brian Greene explains superstring theory, the idea that minuscule strands of energy vibrating in 11 dimensions create every particle and force in the universe.”  –

Wow. That takes faith—11 unknown, unverifiable dimensions! Is faith by any other name still faith? Yet some  doubt the existence of  not eleven but just one heaven that cannot be seen visibly by humans.
