Genesis Is A Key battleground Today. Why Is It So Important?

Genesis can determine one’s concept of God, creation and world view. No wonder that scholars, skeptics and atheists challenge it. What vital truths does the enemy not want people to know?

Genesis answers some important questions that adults or children have asked for centuries. What or who is God? Who is man? Does God punish sin? Am I accountable to God or can I just live for self? Who is in control of this planet? Will God stand by me in good times and bad? Is supernatural help available via prayer?

The enemy wants a person’s world view to be based on lies not God’s reality. Satan is forever attacking God’s glory! Genesis gives key truths. Satan replies with lies and deception.

Question #1: Who or what created the world?

Lies Attacking God’s glory: Atheistic evolution says: Out of nothing, came everything and everybody. Denying that Creator God created both faith and science. It is a lie to say one must choose between them. Hinduism offers no single, fixed creation view but a mixed bag of myths and even contradictory theories. <>

Bible Truth: “In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.” (Gen 1.1) (Gen chpt. 1,2; Job chpt 38-41; Rom 1.18-20; Jn 1.1-3; Col 1.16-17)

Question #2: How did I get here?

Lies Attacking God’s existence: Adam and Eve were not real people. Early Genesis is not historical. There is no Creator God.

Bible Truth: “So God created man in His own image, in the image of God created He him; male and female created He them”(Gen 1.27) (Gen 2.21-23)

Question #3: How did marriage get started? What is marriage?

Lies Attacking God’s game plan of purity, holy living : Sex outside marriage is normal, natural. You can make cup your own moral laws. You can ignore God’s moral laws and fornicate. If it feels good, do it. (1 Cor 6.9-20).

Bible Truth: “Then the Lord God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper who is just right for him. . . . Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.” (Gen 2.18,24 NLT)

Marriages other than one man with one woman oppose God’s plan. Once leaving God’s plan, there is no easy, painless Plan B or C. In Genesis 19, angels destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah because of rampant homosexuality. Creator God wants clean, pure living. The landlord makes the rules. (Adultery and fornication will be punished too.) Jesus wants to bind up our wounds, heal and forgive. He offers a better lifestyle. He has a wonderful plan for each believer’s life!

Question #4: Is man basically good or evil? If God is good, where did evil come from?

Lies Attacking God’s truthfulness, His Word: Man is good. Sin is just a small rock in man’s path. He has the potential to overcome his sin. God’s help is not a factor.

Bible Truth: Adam and Eve were created good, sinless, but not as robots. They had the freedom to make good choices or evil ones. “You may eat freely of the fruit of every tree in the garden–except the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. If you eat its fruit, you are sure to die.” (Gen 2.16-17 NLT) (Gen chpt 3).

Question #5: How serious is man’s sin?

Lies Attacking God’s glory: Man is basically good, not evil. He does not need to be saved from his sin because he was never lost. God is love. Every one will go to heaven. Just be happy.

Bible Truth: “And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.” (Gen 6.5)(Gen 6.9-13; Jer 17.9; Isa 64.6; Rom 3.23; 6.23).

Question #6: Can I get away with my sin? Does God punish sin? Is He my judge?

Lies Attacking God’s justice: We don’t have to obey God as our Judge because the Flood of judgment by God never happened. There is no Judge.

Bible Truth: God is Judge. He punishes sin. He brought a worldwide judgment on sin. All people drowned in the Flood except Noah and his family. (Gen chpt 6-8). Sin is serious. No other religion has a Savior that can resolve our sin problem and remove our guilt. (Exod 20.1-17; Isa 45.22; Act 4.12; 17.22-34; Rom 1.18-20).

Question #7: Where is “grace” or “God’s favor,” first found in the Bible? Were people in the Old Testament saved by keeping the Law?

Lies Attacking God’s Salvation: Salvation must be deserved or earned by man’s good deeds or religious ceremonies and works. As man is saving himself by his own works that makes him his own Savior from sin. Jesus could not also be his Savior.

Bible Truth: “But Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord.” (Gen 6.8). “being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus.” (Rom 3.24). Salvation is always received not achieved. It is a free gift to those who have faith that Jesus Christ paid their sin debt on the Cross. Noah could not have been redeemed by keeping the Law. The Law was not given until many years later in Exodus. (Rom 3.24; 6.23; Gal 2.5; Eph 2.8-9).

Question #8: Does God provide for and bless His people?

Lies Attacking God’s Blessing His People: There is no God to provide, care for, and bless you. You are an accident of nature. You are all alone in this world. Be happy then die and go to the grave like a dog.

Bible Truth: “And God blessed Noah and his sons . . .” (Gen 9.1); God called and blessed Abraham: “I will make thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be as blessing . . . and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed. ” (Gen 12.2-3).

If we are sons of Abraham by faith, we too can be blessed and protected. Lost people have unnecessary heartaches in life (family problems, relationships, fighting, guilt, emotional, financial, job, health, legal issues).

Question #9: Does God turn His back on His child if he really messes up?

Lies Attacking God’s Faithfulness: You’ve gone too far. God will not forgive you. It’s hopeless. God does not give second or third chances.

Bible Truth: These people sinned yet God remained faithful to them. God chastens His child but does not desert him. Cain, murderer (4.15); Noah got naked drunk (9.20-23); Abraham deceived Pharaoh (12.10-20); Jacob stole (chpt 27-33); Joseph’s brothers sold him into slavery (chpt 37-50).

Question #10: Above all, Satan hates prayer. Praying believers can call down God’s supernatural power and deliverance! Was this power available to people in Genesis? How does prayer work?

Lies Attacking Prayer Power: Believe in yourself. Man is in control of his own life. Focus on your human possibilities. God and faith stuff is not important.

Bible Truth: Abraham got up early to pray (19.27); He intercedes for Lot (18.16-33); Abraham’s servant asks God to choose a bride for Isaac (24-all); Jacob wrestled all night with angel- got his request answered, a blessing (32.24-27).

Question #11: Can I ignore God if I want to or is He really in control of my circumstances. Does He hold my life in His hands?

Lies Attacking God’s power:

Bible Truth: God brought Isaac and Rebekah together (chpt 24); He controls the rain (chpt 7-8); rescued Sarai from Pharaoh (12.17-20); God removed Adam and Eve’s dwelling place and food supply (3.16-24); destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah (19.24ff); preserved Joseph as slave in Egypt, then raised him up to be Prime Minister over all Egypt.
