America Is Composed Of Many Subcultures

What is America? Is the USA of Hollywood and the entertainment industry the true America? Or is America the Wall Street and New York City glitz and glam? Or is America an extension of the sports world – one big sports venue – football, basketball, baseball, rodeo, racing  and running?

What is the USA really? Is it higher education, advanced technology and scientific research? Is it putting in a weekly appearance in some church or synagogue? Is it the heartland, the grass-roots citizens working in small shops, farms and cattle ranches?

Yes. All these are pieces of the puzzle. America is a mosaic. Perhaps it has at least as many subcultures as it does states – 50? It is composed of  widely differing, core values.

The USA I prefer is composed of a wide variety of heart Christians. Not Sunday Christians, not fake, mouth Christians but those who truly have the Spirit of Jesus in their heart. Many of them also have a desire to live pure holy lives, however imperfectly. They represent many walks of life, many vocations.

God places His witnesses in the poor, middle class and upper class neighborhoods. Praise God. America is more than the shallowness of Kardashian. It rises above the filth and sin promoted by the entertainment industry. God’s people are to be salt and might to a dark, hurting world – beacons, role models.

I ache for an America that loves wholesomeness, godliness, purity, modesty, chastity and whole families. This is what God intended for the USA. Sin has detracted many from following God’s plan, His mosaic.

“Do not love the world, nor the things ion the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes and the boastful pride of life, is not from the Father, but is from the world. And the world is passing away, and also its lusts; but the one who does the will of God abides forever.” (1 Jn 2.15-17 NAS).
