King David Knew How To Pray Against Enemies In High Places

King David’s own son Absalom was trying to overthrow David. But David knew how to pray:

“Now someone told David, saying “Ahithophel [David’s counselor] is among the conspirators with Absalom.” And David said, “O Lord, I pray, make the counsel of Ahithophel foolishness.” (2 Sam 15.31 NAS).

“Than Absalom and all the men of Israel said, “The counsel of Hushai the Archite is better than the counsel of Athithophel.” For the Lord had ordained to thwart the good counsel of Athithophel, in order that the Lord might bring calamity on Absalom.” (2 Sam 17.14 NAS).

Absalom rejected the good counsel. This enabled David to avoid capture and death.

Prayer is better than many of armies. David called in his “heavy artillery.” God is love. God’s love often includes His “I’ve got your back,” protection! God’s always got a back up plan as needed.  Do many run from the very thing they want the most – real love? God’s amazing love?
