Is Adultery Despising, Rejecting God?

America has lost her virginity.  Adultery, fornication are now commonplace. Divorces, disease and alienation are rampant. The sexual freedom spawned in the 1960s has not brought heaven on earth but heartache and evil.  Man’s way is not better than Creator God’s.

Decades back when I was in high school and college fornication  was mostly kept secret.  It was not wide open like today. I cannot recall any one I knew who was living in  sin. There was a stigma attached to it. Cohabiting with a girl friend, “fiance” or “significant other” was not even widely discussed. It was considered low down living. It was shameful. It was for  the  heathen.

Sins accepted tend to deepen and spread. It can take us farther than we want to go, either as a person or nation.

Why do some concerned writers including me continue to warn against this key sin? First, because our western culture sees sex outside marriage as normal and natural. Many have adopted this lie as truth, reality, common sense. No doctors put a cast on the arm when the leg is broken.

Secondly because adultery is not some small, two bit sin. It is  “despising” God, rejecting God. Unless removed it can keep one from eternal life (1 Cor 6.9-11)!

“Never harm or cheat a Christian brother in this matter by violating his wife, for the Lord avenges all such sins, we have solemnly warned you before. God has called us to live holy,  not impure lives. There, anyone who refuses to live by these rules is not disobeying human teaching but is rejecting God, who gives His Holy Spirit to you.” (1 Thes. 4.6-8 NLT).

“He therefore that despiseth, despiseth not man, but God, who has given us his Holy Spirit.” (1 Thes 4.8 KJV).

Loving Jesus waits to forgive any one who will come to Him and confess. Come home.
