Sad . . . really sad to hear of those wasting many child bearing years. Was God’s choice of a spouse missed because one was AWOL, addicted to immorality, fornication? Skirt hounds, tramps and cohabiters pay a high price.
How many fornication addicts, those hooking up, don’t realize until their thirties or forties what they are missing out on? Teenage sin became an addiction. Rebellion resisted repentance. Sin continues down the rocky path. Stolen years, wasted years, precious years, now gone.
Even holiday season can be bittersweet, being around those who chose God’s path and have godly marriages and children. Reminders that sin has consequences. Silent tears well up. Some avoid family gatherings to mute the pain.
But cheer up! I do not share this to bring more hurt or pain but a way out. One can ask Jesus to be their soul mate. He cannot change yesterday but He can change tomorrow, if we ask Him to. What better Christmas gift than freedom from sin’s slavery and receiving the Christ child’s best Christmas gift – forgiveness for sin, peace, eternal life, abundant life now! (Jn 10.10).
In John chapter 8 we have a story of sin and forgiveness. A woman caught in the very act of adultery is brought to Jesus. He forgives her. “And Jesus said, ‘Neither do I condemn you; go your way. From now on sin no more.'” (John 8.11 NAS).
