How many are buying the big lie that: God’s people are not enough for you.? To be contented in life you need cool, worldly friends and worldly play toys?
I experienced just the opposite after being saved. I was lonely for 31 years before I trusted Christ to forgive my sins. I longed to be married. I recall thinking after being redeemed that I no longer needed to get married to have my companionship needs meet. I had new Christian friends and a good Bible study plus a church. And four years after being saved, God did bring a godly wife into my life. She is still such a blessing to me today!
For three years while lost I was trapped in a dead end relationship. It should have never happened. Boredom can get us into regrettable, time wasting relationships.
Now in my church there is so much going on for adult believers! Some guys hunt together. Others play golf, BBQ, watch ball games, swimming, family outings, dine out and on and on. And this is in addition to the ministry and short term missions opportunities.
After one got saved and really involved in all this do you think that he/she might wonder a few weeks down this new path, Wow, why died I ever think that I could not get along with my old worldly mates, homeboys, Lefty, Shorty or sleazy Sue?
“He that walketh with wise men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed.” (Prov 13.20).
“How blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked, nor stand in the path of sinners, nor sit in the seat of scoffers, but his delight is in the law of the Lord, and in His law he meditates day and night.” (Psa 1.1-2 NAS).
Many today have no idea just how many, many blessings they are missing out on – in addition to salvation! But it takes a small step of faith to reach it. Jesus is still looking for a small step faith. In Luke 8.43-48 a woman with a hemorrage reaches out and touches the hem of Jesus’ garment. She is instantly healed. Her faith makes the difference.
Today Jesus is still waiting for those who will reach out to Him in faith to have some problem removed. Healthy relationships and active church service pf course often go together. Some may need to leave a dead church. Who finds blessings in a cemetery? I prefer a good Bible believing church where people are being saved regularly. I like to hear Christians giving their salvation stories and see altar calls for salvation commitments.
Many are missing out in life but their lack of faith is holding them back. They need to reach out. Find out where the turned on, active believers are. Jesus lifts burdens. He fixes people – if we will let Him.
Speaking of Satan Jesus said, “The thief come only to steal, and kill, and destroy; I came that they might have life, and might have it abundantly.” (Jn 10.10 NAS) (Mt 11.28-30: Isaiah 26.3).
