Whitney Houston, Amy Winehouse, Michael Jackson, Elvis, Jimmy Hendricks plus an endless list of other singers and celebs allegedly had drug issues. What a waste of ability and life. What should we learn from all these unnecessary deaths?
Perhaps one good thing that can come out of these deaths is to remind us that without Jesus spiritual meaning in life is missing. And, obviously many lack the self control to resist such temptations. Obviously the Devil can take advantage of that emptiness, that void.
“But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” (Matt 6.33).
Christian, do not take the core of your universe for granted. Thank Jesus for giving you a reason to live – abundant life! “Thank You Jesus for all the problems I do not have! It is no accident.”
In John 10.10 Jesus contrasts the Devil’s work with His own: “The thief comes only to steal, and kill, and destroy; I came that they might have life, and have it abundantly.” (Jn 10.10 NAS).
Almost as puzzling is the fact that the friends and other celebs witnessing the parade of drug deaths do not speak out – warn others about it. The on screen boldness to shoot a gun, fist fight or speak out on moral matters seems missing in real life. They are not showing up! They are largely a no show. What influence is wasted. They are such weak, poor, role models. How many of their lives are also being wasted though they still live? Hollywood is the Devil’s front porch. Drugs are Satan’s limo.
The book of Acts tell us who gives this power to speak up for truth: “and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and began to speak the word of God with boldness.” (Act 4.31 NAS). I ask the Spirit to fill me daily.
“Blessed are they that keep his testimonies, and that seek him with the whole heart.” (Psa 119.2).
